Shauna's Story

Shauna Sweet Girl was her Gramp's nickname for her.
   Sweet tea was her
 favorite drink.

Shauna Sweet Tea
was created to honor Shauna by raising funds to promote mental health awareness and provide comfort for the families of those that, like Shauna, take their lives by suicide.

On April 16, 2018, Shauna unexpectedly and inexplicably took her life. As her family, we want to carry on her legacy through the sale of Shauna's Sweet Tea.

Her laughter was contagious, her smile lit up a room. Animals were her passion. There was nothing she wouldn't do to bring joy to a friend. As she soars on angel wings, her tea will help those that, like her, can't find  another way out of their own darkness and broken hearts they leave behind.

Susan Newell, Shauna's mother and older sister, Leslie O'Bryant, and a handful of friends started envisioning a way to honor Shauna and realized there was a  mission needed to help prevent suicide, especially in the military/veteran population as well as youth and adolescents. We established our 501(3)c in early 2019, our EIN is 83-3440277, we have a Bronze listing on Guidestar. By establishing Shauna Sweet Tea we hope to begin to heal our pain and prevent other families from having to experience a loss like ours.
